Philippine Airlines is the flag carrier of the Philippines and Asia’s first commercial airline, operating from Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport. The airline has invested in fleet modernisation with the Airbus A350-900, which carries a significantly improved business class product on key long-haul routes to North America, Europe, and Australia.

Seat and cabin

The Airbus A350-900 features business class in a 1-2-1 layout with enclosed suites by Safran, featuring lie-flat beds extending to 78 inches, 22-inch width, and sliding privacy doors. Each suite includes an 18-inch touchscreen, wireless charging, USB-C and AC power, and premium bedding. The Boeing 777-300ER uses an older 2-2-2 staggered layout with lie-flat seats but without doors or consistent aisle access. The A330-300 offers a smaller 2-2-2 lie-flat configuration on regional routes. The A350 product is a dramatic improvement and ranks among the better options in the Asia-Pacific market.

Dining and service

Philippine Airlines serves Filipino and international cuisine, featuring dishes such as chicken adobo, sinigang, lechon kawali, and kare-kare alongside Western multi-course options. Filipino desserts like halo-halo and leche flan make appearances on select routes. Calamansi juice and Philippine coffee are signature beverage offerings alongside international wines. Cabin crew are known for their genuine Filipino warmth, hospitality, and care — delivering service with smiling sincerity that is frequently praised by passengers.

Lounge experience

Philippine Airlines operates the Mabuhay Lounge at Manila Terminal 2, offering Filipino and international hot dishes, a noodle station, and a bar. The lounge has been refreshed with modern interiors and comfortable seating. At outstations, passengers access partner or contract lounges. The Manila airport experience itself can be challenging due to congestion and infrastructure limitations, though the terminal and lounge are an improvement over previous years.
