El Al business class offers lie-flat seats on its 787 Dreamliner fleet, featuring kosher gourmet cuisine and a distinctive Israeli hospitality style from Tel Aviv to the world.

El Al is Israel’s flag carrier, operating from Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport to destinations across Europe, North America, Asia, and Africa. The airline is known for its stringent security protocols, kosher catering, and the unique character of Israeli hospitality, and has modernised its fleet with Boeing 787 Dreamliners.

Seat and cabin

The Boeing 787-9 features business class in a 1-2-1 reverse herringbone layout with lie-flat seats extending to 74 inches and a 20-inch width. Direct aisle access is provided at every seat, with a 15.4-inch touchscreen, USB and AC power, and Israeli-designed amenity kits. The 787-8 uses a similar layout. The older Boeing 777-200ER has a 2-3-2 configuration with lie-flat seats but without direct aisle access from all positions. The 787 product represents a significant improvement and is recommended for the best business class experience.

Dining and service

All El Al catering is strictly kosher, supervised by the Israeli Rabbinate. Gourmet kosher meals feature Israeli and Mediterranean cuisine including shakshuka, falafel, hummus, grilled lamb, and fresh salads with tahini. Israeli wines from the Golan Heights and Galilee regions are featured alongside international selections. Meal service is generous in portions. Service is informal and warm in the Israeli style — direct, efficient, and personable rather than formal or ceremonial.

Lounge experience

El Al operates the King David Lounge at Ben Gurion Terminal 3, offering kosher hot meals, Israeli salads, a bar with Israeli wines and spirits, and shower facilities. The lounge provides a comfortable space before navigating TLV’s thorough but time-consuming security procedures. At outstations, passengers access contract or partner lounges. The Ben Gurion lounge is a solid offering, and passengers should allow extra time before departure given the airport’s enhanced security screening process.
