Kenya Airways Business Class
Kenya Airways business class offers lie-flat seats on its Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, connecting Nairobi with destinations across Africa, Europe, and Asia as part of SkyTeam.
39 routes available · Lie-flat seats · Lounge access included
Kenya Airways is Kenya’s flag carrier and one of Africa’s leading airlines, operating from Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. As a SkyTeam member and partner of Air France-KLM, Kenya Airways connects Africa with Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, while maintaining the most extensive intra-African network from East Africa.
Seat and cabin
The Boeing 787-8 features business class in a 1-2-1 configuration with Thompson Vantage lie-flat seats extending to 73 inches and a 20-inch width. Every seat offers direct aisle access, a 16-inch touchscreen, USB and AC power, and noise-cancelling headphones. The Boeing 777-300ER uses an older 2-3-2 layout with lie-flat seats but without universal aisle access. Requesting the 787 is strongly recommended for long-haul flights. The cabin design features warm African tones with earth colours and subtle Kenyan motifs.
Dining and service
Kenya Airways serves East African and international cuisine, featuring Kenyan specialties such as nyama choma grilled meats, chapati, pilau rice, and tropical fruit desserts. Kenyan AA coffee and Tusker beer are signature beverage offerings alongside international wines. Meal presentation is straightforward with branded china. Cabin crew are friendly and hospitable, reflecting Kenyan warmth and courtesy. Service is attentive on flagship routes to London, Amsterdam, and Bangkok.
Lounge experience
Kenya Airways operates the Simba Lounge at Nairobi Terminal 1A, offering Kenyan dishes, a hot food buffet, a bar, and shower facilities. The lounge was refurbished to provide a modern African atmosphere with comfortable seating. At outstations, passengers access SkyTeam partner lounges, with the KLM Crown Lounge at Amsterdam Schiphol being a notable highlight. The Nairobi lounge is functional and improving, though the broader airport infrastructure at Jomo Kenyatta remains a work in progress.
