Malaysia Airlines is Malaysia’s flag carrier and a Oneworld alliance member, operating from the modern Kuala Lumpur International Airport. The airline has rebuilt its reputation with a renewed focus on service quality and a modernised fleet, particularly the Airbus A350-900 which carries its best business class product.

Seat and cabin

The Airbus A350-900 features business class in a 1-2-1 reverse herringbone layout with lie-flat seats extending to 76 inches and a 21-inch width. Each seat includes an 18-inch touchscreen, wireless charging, USB-C and AC power, and Malaysian-designed amenity kits by Christy Ng. The A330-300 uses an older Thompson Vantage staggered 1-2-1 layout with lie-flat capability but smaller screens. The A350 cabin incorporates Malaysian design elements with tropical patterns and warm wood tones, creating a contemporary Southeast Asian ambiance.

Dining and service

Malaysia Airlines serves a signature “Satay on Board” service featuring freshly heated chicken satay with peanut sauce as a pre-dinner appetiser — a beloved tradition among regular passengers. Main courses blend Malaysian favourites such as nasi lemak, rendang, and laksa with international options. The wine list includes international selections alongside Malaysian-grown tea and local coffee. Cabin crew in their distinctive batik sarong kebaya uniforms deliver warm Malaysian hospitality with gentle attentiveness and a genuine smile.

Lounge experience

Malaysia Airlines operates the Golden Lounge at KLIA, featuring separate satellite and regional lounges with Malaysian cuisine stations, a noodle bar serving laksa and char kuey teow, barista coffee, and shower facilities. The flagship Golden Lounge offers à la carte dining for international business class passengers. At outstations, passengers access Oneworld partner lounges. The KLIA Golden Lounge is spacious and well-regarded, with its Malaysian food offerings being a particular highlight for departing passengers.
